TWIMS established an Alumni Advisory Board in 2022. The TWIMS Alumni Board is comprised of six of TWIMS’ most committed alumni. Board members serve the alumni community through the promotion of, and support for the institute’s strategic priorities and initiatives.

Our Alumni Board

TWIMS established an Alumni Advisory Board in 2022. The TWIMS Alumni Board is comprised of six of TWIMS’ most committed alumni. Board members serve the alumni community through the promotion of, and support for the institute’s strategic priorities and initiatives.

The aims and objectives of the TWIMS Alumni Board are:

  1. To harness the potential within the alumni community to contribute to the vision of TWIMS, which is dedicated to the development of manufacturing excellence in Africa
  2. To maintain and expand the alumni network of TWIMS
  3. To promote networking opportunities between TWIMS alumni and the manufacturing community
  4. To offer support and strategic guidance to TWIMS and the TWIMS Stakeholder Board.
  5. To promote TWIMS within local and international communities
  6. To be the representative voice of TWIMS alumni and ensure alumni feedback is being appropriately channelled to TWIMS management, faculty, and trustees.
  7. To provide services for the benefit of the TWIMS alumni, where appropriate and in a way that is fair and equitable to the intended beneficiaries
  8. To serve as an effective communication and information channel among TWIMS alumni mutually and between TWIMS alumni and TWIMS, and
  9. To provide support and promote the brand value of TWIMS qualifications.

The TWIMS Alumni Board is an advisory structure to the TWIMS Stakeholder Board, and the Chairperson of the Alumni Board reports to the TWIMS Executive Director.

Priya Govind

Title and current company:

Director: Finance at Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Japanese listed company Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI).

Biography:

Priya describes herself as a life-long learner who is passionate about education and believes that education is a key driver of social and economic upliftment.

She was part of the inaugural TWIMS / GIBS Manufacturing-focused MBA cohort, achieved her MBA with distinction and recognised by GIBS as the top MBA Modular / Part time student nationally.

In her current professional role, Priya heads up a team of 26 Associates within the finance function, responsible for all aspects of financial accounting, cost and management accounting, credit, and treasury management.

In her downtime, Priya enjoys hiking, connecting with family and friends, reading, and travelling.

Nosihle Dlamini

Senior Manager – Toyota

Biography:

Nosihle is a driven and authentic leader with 11 years in the automotive industry, holding various positions in operations, quality engineering, and compliance. She has an ardent interest in sustainability and technology. On a personal level possesses good interpersonal skills, great sense of humour, and an unwavering belief in human potential and that of women to be specific.

She is part of the GIBS and Toyota Wessels Institute of Manufacturing Studies inaugural manufacturing cohort.

Anele Ngidi

Independent Consultant

Biography:

Anele has over 15 years’ experience spanning the financial services and automotive sectors. She has held various senior roles in stockbroking and investment management, where she led research efforts on JSE-listed companies and asset manager investment strategies. Recently, Anele also worked as a business excellence lead responsible for rolling out the Lean strategy within a JSE-listed organisation operating in the transport and automotive sector. She also recently served on the investment and management committees for a pension fund of the same company. Anele is a recipient of the Toyota Wessels Institute of Manufacturing Studies Ambassador Scholarship and is currently pursuing her MBA studies. She has a keen interest in sustainability, trade, and inclusive leadership.

Abdul Ganie Hassim

Senior Manager, Commercial and Supply Chain CHEP / Brambles

Biography:

Abdul was part of the inaugural TWIMS MBA class in 2019. He has a background in commercial deals, supply chain, strategy, finance, and systems at various listed and multinational companies. He is particularly interested in making a difference in sustainable supply chains and manufacturing.

Mdumiseni Maphumulo

Area Engineer, Alkylation; Shell & BP South African Petroleum (SAPREF)

Biography:

Mdumiseni has over 13 years’ experience in various manufacturing industries including petroleum and pulp and paper, holding various roles in maintenance from area engineer to maintenance management. Mdumiseni spent a year studying through the Toyota Wessels Institute of Manufacturing Studies and has recently graduated with a PGDip General Management.

Warren Andrew Sachs

Director, Beier

Biography:

Warren has over 25 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry holding various roles including project management, operations management, and general management. He was appointed Director of Beier Industries (now Beier Group) in 2008.

Warren spent two years studying through the Toyota Wessels Institute of Manufacturing Studies and has recently submitted his final report on digital transformation in manufacturing SMEs to complete his MBA. He was the top PGDip student nationally at GIBS in 2020.
