TWIMS Breakfast Seminar – Thailand’s recent automotive value chain developments

October 2 @ 7:30 am - 10:15 am

Guest speaker
Prof. Kriengkrai Techakanont, Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand

Seminar context
Thailand’s automotive industry has experienced substantial growth over the last two decades. From being similarly sized to South Africa’s automotive industry, it now produces three times more vehicles, and has substantially deepened its value addition. Thailand’s automotive manufacturing value chain consequently employs over 400,000 people, making it an aspirational benchmark for South Africa. The competitiveness of the Thailand automotive industry has been comprehensively documented in previous research, but much like the rest of the world, it is now confronting the shift to New Energy Vehicles and is having to adjust its production and market dynamic accordingly.

To find out how the Thailand automotive industry is presently navigating the NEV transition, while maintaining its dominant position in LCV production, don’t miss this important breakfast seminar.
