Key considerations for COVID- 19 vaccine supply, within a vertical and horizontally integrated Supply Chain

The COVID–19 vaccines roll out both locally and globally, has garnered interest from various institutions and communities. The intricacies and the compliance frameworks, that are integrated within these supply chains are often misinterpreted. It is imperative to understand how these elements impact the supply and value chain in terms of delivery, safety, and compliance and ultimately the progress of the vaccines roll out locally.

We are joined by Ida Motlhasedi, Head of Quality & Responsible Pharmacist of Fresenius Kabi Manufacturing South Africa – A global healthcare company with a robust sterile manufacturing presence both locally and abroad.

Speaker Profile

Ida Motlhasedi

Ida Motlhasedi started her pharmaceutical industry journey in 2007 as a production pharmacist in an oral solid dosage manufacturing facility in Port Elizabeth. She then moved to become a production leader in the same facility where she was responsible for the packaging process.

In 2009 she was promoted to the Sterile manufacturing facility as the production group leader, managing the production activities in this facility.

Ida moved to her quality role in 2011 where she was responsible for ensuring that all contracted products are manufactured and released to market in line with the GMP requirements.

Between 2012 and 2015 she was appointed as the Quality Assurance Manager for a sterile manufacturing facility that produces both aseptic and terminally sterilised products.

In 2017 she was appointed as the Quality Manager and Responsible Pharmacist for a pharmaceutical distribution centre based in Port Elizabeth and in East London.

From 2018 to date she is the Head of Quality and Responsible Pharmacist for a global sterile manufacturing facility that is currently manufacturing and distributing sterile products in South Africa, other African countries and the Asian markets.
